A new initiative will distribute 1 million iftar meals on the main roads of Saudi Arabia, in order to address a 27% rise in road fatalities this Ramadan season.
The program, ‘Fast-Ending Iftar’, is organised by the Saudi National Centre for Responsibilities and Studies, as well as Saudi coffee company Barn’s. This initiative distributes meals at traffic signals and road intersections in the cities of Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam.
This initiative is made possible by more than 1,000 volunteers who received safety training. According to the Saudi General Authority for Roads, fatalities from car accidents increase by 10% before the call to Fajr.
