22 Dubai Bus Stations Will Undergo Renovations
Plans include updated facades for 16 stations, as well as driver residential quarters at some bus depots.
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced a three-year plan to improve and renovate 22 bus stations and depots across the city, aiming to improve the public transit experience for both passengers and staff. The renovations, planned for 16 bus stations and six depots, will include work on passenger waiting terminals, driver service offices, engine maintenance workshops and vehicle inspection bays, which will allow for on-site servicing of buses.
The 16 bus stations in question include nine stations in Deira, and seven in Bur Dubai, including Mall of the Emirates, Al Quoz, Union and Abu Hail. The facades of these terminals will be updated, while prayer rooms will be added to selected stations.
Six bus depots, including those at Jebel Ali and Al Quoz, will also be renovated, with these two facilities receiving driver residential quarters to ensure that staff do not exceed their mandated number of consecutive driving hours. Traffic signals and external lights in the depots will be added as well to improve safety within the areas.
