14 Athletes Will Represent the UAE in Five Sports at 2024 Olympics
The 14 Emirati athletes will compete in equestrian, judo, cycling, swimming and athletics between July 26th and August 11th.
The National Olympic Committee of the United Arab Emirates has announced that their delegation for the 33rd Summer Olympics will consist of 14 athletes, who will be competing across five sports: equestrian, judo, cycling, swimming and athletics.
The 2024 Summer Olympics will be held in Paris, France from July 26th to August 11th, and is expected to host over 10,500 athletes from 200 National Olympic Committees across over 329 events.
The show-jumping equestrian team includes Abdullah Humaid Al Muhairi, Abdullah Al Marri, Omar Al Marzouqi, Salem Al Suwaidi, and Ali Al Karbi, but only four of them will be selected for national representation.
The judo team consists of Narmand Bayan, Talal Shvili, Aram Gregorian, Dhafer Aram and Omar Marouf, as well as Bashirat Kharoudi, the only female team member.
Cyclist Safia Al Sayegh is the first Emirati female cyclist to qualify for the Olympics, and will compete in the road race.
Yousef Rashid Al Matroushi and Maha Abdullah Al Shehi are the UAE’s swimming representatives. Al Matroushi will compete in the 100m freestyle, while Al Shehi will compete in the 200m freestyle.
Finally, runner Maryam Mohammed Al Farsi will compete in the 100m race at the Stade de France.
Omar Al Marzouqi will carry the UAE flag at the Olympic Opening Ceremony on July 26th, which will be attended by every competing athlete and take place on the Seine. This will be the 11th time the UAE has taken part in the games, starting with Los Angeles in 1984.
