‘The Goat’ to Begin Screening in Egyptian Cinemas on September 18th

The 90-minute feature film was shot entirely in Siwa, and features a number of Egyptian stars including Nelly Karim.

Award-winning feminist drama film ‘The Goat’ will begin screening at Egyptian cinemas starting September 18th.

The film premiered at Rome Film Festival and subsequently had its regional screening at the 6th edition of El Gouna Film Festival.

The 90-minute feature film was shot entirely in Siwa, and follows the journey of a young girl who sets out across the desert to find her father after a foreign company attempts to control the only source of water in her town.

Helmed by Italian director Iliana Borelli, the film stars a number of Egyptian stars including Nelly Karim, Jessica Hossam, Sayed Ragab, Amr Saad, Arfa Abdel Rassoul and Fathi Abdel Wahab.

‘The Goat’ has received numerous awards including Best Story Award at the 2023 Swedish International Festival, the Best Film Award on Women at the Fourth Dimension Independent Film Festival in 2023, as well as the Best Feature Film Award on Women, the Best International Narrative Film and the Best Director at the 2023 French International Film Director Indo.

The film also won Best Actress, Best Screenplay, and a Special Mention from the 2023 Life Beyond Life Festival, Best Female Eye Film Festival Screening 2024 and Best Director Award in 2024 Toronto International Women's Film Festival, and Best Independent Film at the 2024 Miami Women's Film Festival.
